Component 1: Studies
 | Brian Matt Tony Rhen Nightingale Gapastione Peninsula Covenant Church Redwood City California |
The Covenant Orientation includes four orientation courses. These courses are designed to provide a common educational experience focusing on the Covenant's heritage, distinctives, and mission. The courses are: History (available for 3 graduate credits) 39 hours Theology (available for 3 graduate credits) 39 hours Mission & Ministry (26 hours) Sustaining Vocational Excellence (26 hours) All courses require preparation in the form of prereading and possible time online to maximize the time spent in the actual classroom setting. Courses are under the jurisdiction of our Academic Policies.
"New friendships, supportive relationships and collegial exchange were wonderful byproducts of this program. I trust this important part of the CEOP experience will be continued. Also notable was the balance I experienced between lecture, other presentational formats and class interaction. Obviously intentional and typically well executed, the substantial small group interaction provided a practical and interpersonal element that was satisfying and beneficial." - Randy Schott |
Course Scheduling and Frequency Each course is offered at least twice a year. Courses are normally
offered before, during, or immediately following the Midwinter
Conference, during a summer intensive at North Park Theological
Seminary and in the spring and fall at conference sites.
The Vocational Excellence class is only offered at regional conferences and some summers, never at the Midwinter Conference. Please see the course schedule for the most current information. Some course costs are covered by the program fee.
Course Credits Two Covenant Orientation courses can be taken for graduate credit. These are transferable to any ATS accredited school. Often a student in another seminary masters program can use Covenant Orientation courses to fulfill electives, and even core courses for their program, thus completing two objectives at once. If you are enrolled in a seminary program we recommend showing the "Courses of Study Summary" to your advisor to see if this can work for you. Credits are "stored" at North Park Theological Seminary. A transcript of credits can be requested at any time. Please contact us at 1-888-COV-PROG or covenant.orientation@covchurch.org for the most recent information.
