1990 Peace Divided
Resolution on the "Peace Dividend"
Adopted at the Covenant Annual Meeting, June, 1990
WHEREAS, recent world events have resulted in a decreased need for military
might; and
WHEREAS, there is an urgent and continuing need for increased resources
to fund programs in education and health care, and assistance to developing
nations; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Evangelical Covenant Church support prudent reductions
in military strength, and be it further
RESOLVED, that we encourage our national leaders to reallocate the "peace
dividend" to social, educational, and health-care programs at home
and in developing nations.
