“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” Hebrews 4:12 (NIV).

judsonIt is my joy to invite you, on behalf of the Evangelical Covenant Church, to the 123rd Covenant Annual Meeting, to be held June 24-26 at the Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake, Wisconsin. The theme this year is “Living Our Affirmations: The Centrality of the Word of God.” The Annual Meeting will again be preceded by the Feast, our deeply engaging national worship and prayer gathering for all Covenanters, to be held at the same location.

The Annual Meeting is “the Congress of the Covenant.” The highest authority in the Covenant has always been given to the local churches, and their representatives meet together once a year to guide the church’s life. The Annual Meeting will deliberate and celebrate multiple aspects of our shared ministries including the election of a candidate for president of the Covenant and the election of leaders to key Covenant boards. Other highlights include the adoption of the first Covenant Resource Paper, “The Evangelical Covenant Church and the Bible,” resolutions on global trafficking and racial righteousness, and the celebration of new churches coming into the Covenant.

prayerWe come together also for worship and fellowship. The Covenant Church is a rapidly growing, widely diverse family, and it is good for us to spend time together every year renewing old ties and discovering new friends.

I look forward to the Annual Meeting again this year as always. The God-given richness of the Covenant is in its people—old-timers and new-comers, from east and west, from cities and farms, of many different backgrounds and cultures. I hope you will come and be a part of it, and exercise your church’s voice. Join us as we worship together...celebrate what God is doing through the Covenant Church...shape our shared ministry...send missionaries...ordain pastors...elect leaders, and affirm our faith.
